Hulk and Black Panther have been confirmed for the roster of ‘Marvel Fighting Souls.’
A new trailer for ‘Marvel Fighting Souls,’ a tag-battle game currently in development by Arc System Works and PlayStation, was unveiled on May 3 at ‘EVO Japan 2026’ in Tokyo. The trailer introduces two new members of the Team Fighting Avengers, and a new introduction from producer Takeshi Yamanaka was also released via the PlayStation Blog.
The newly added Hulk (Bruce Banner) features a unique backstory: after saving the world with the Avengers, his overwhelming and uncontrollable power led S.H.I.E.L.D. and his allies (Captain America and Iron Man) to exile him to the ‘Savage Land.’ Harboring distrust toward the Avengers, this version of Hulk is designed with a rugged aesthetic, wearing armor crafted from dinosaur bones to reflect his life in the wild.
In combat, he employs a style that overwhelms opponents with raw power, regardless of distance. A dedicated ‘Gamma Gauge’ fills as he takes or deals damage; once full, he enters ‘Gamma Rage’ mode, which significantly boosts his strength and speed. Mastering this state to land a single, devastating blow is the core of playing as the Hulk.
Joining alongside the new ‘Wakanda’ stage, the Black Panther is not T’Challa, but his sister, Shuri. Her design captures the struggles of a young queen who has just ascended to the throne while serving as Wakanda’s chief scientist. Her model emphasizes a lithe, agile physique suited for a martial artist, while retaining the refined elegance of Wakandan royalty in the details.
In battle, she uses the Spear of Bashenga to maintain an advantage at mid-range and can utilize her unique movement ability, ‘Bast’s Blessing,’ to dash rapidly in any direction. This movement skill consumes a dedicated gauge and can be activated by canceling normal attacks or skills, allowing for highly fluid, unpredictable combos and mind games.
It was also revealed that the game’s main villain is ‘The Champion,’ one of the Elders of the Universe who has existed since the dawn of time. A wanderer who travels the cosmos seeking worthy hand-to-hand combatants, The Champion has destroyed planets that failed to satisfy him in battle, and Earth has now been chosen as his next target. The core storyline revolves around the ‘Challenge of the Champion’ tournament, held to determine who is worthy of facing him.
Meanwhile, ‘Marvel Fighting Souls’ will host demos of the latest build—featuring the newly revealed Black Panther and the Wakanda stage—at ‘Combo Breaker 2026’ in Chicago on May 22 and at ‘Hong Kong Comic Con’ on May 29. The game is set for a global release on August 6, 2026 (August 7, KST) on PlayStation 5 and PC.
